I’m really going to try and be much better with posting. I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Check out the new Number One Gun CD. Start with the songs “The Victory” and “Forest” and work your way into it.
He’s got a bit of an early 2000’s emo/indie influence and I’m definitely digging it. For some reason it seems to work for me today with the snow falling all over New York.
It’s also on sale at Amazon for $5.99 at the link below (if you’re the music buying type…)
Here is another new band to keep an eye out for. I know I was telling some people about these guys a few weeks ago but I wanted to make sure people are caught up with the “back catalog” of recent new music. They just made the front page of PureVolume without a real CD so expect more news on these guys in the future. I really like “A Mess is Grows” – it has a sweet, slightly old school feel to it. If you like it, grab the the single on iTunes and support. Also, if you email them, they’ll send you some of the older songs on their PV page for free.

Coming soon is my first mix (which I think will be an indie-pop mix to make for some fun autumn car rides)
I just wanted to give you something to hold you over before the next full post so here’s a small teaser of the Alexander record “White Flags and Silver Spoons Have to Sleep in Separate Rooms” [Still not sure why we continue to call them "records" but I think it makes me sound more professional, more of an industry insider, ha].
I think this CD is great and there is quite a bit of variation between the songs – in other words, they don’t all have the same sound to them, there’s some acoustic stuff, some straight ahead rock, some electronic grooves thrown in. It stays fresh and I really like this entire album. Please check it out if you like the following 2 tracks.

Obviously, feel free to pick this CD up anywhere anywhere (iTunes, Zune, emusic, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.) but for your convenience I have provided the Amazonmp3 link above [additionally if you click that link and buy some music you will be supporting the blog - and that counts for something, thanks].
Well here it is. Humble beginnings. I guess its slightly presumptious to say that as they are only “humble” if you do indeed move on to bigger and better at some point. In any event this blog will be morphing and changing over time as I decide what I want to do with WordPress either by hosting the page myself or by creating some custom CSS and paying them to allow me to use it. So all that to say that I know its a little raw right now but that is definitely something that will continue to be improved.
I look forward to being able to drop some new music in your lap that in my opionion needs to be heard. The aim of this blog is NOT to be a bleeding edge tastemaking tour through the swamp that is underground/indie music. I.E. if ”math rock” or “so indie they aren’t even a band yet” strike a chord with you, this probably isn’t your blog. Go read GorillaVsBear or something. I have created this to (hopefully) reach into the fringes and procure music which will be accessible to people who don’t want to listen to pop radio and crave something more substantial.
That is the thesis. Please enjoy.
